Remote Access to Library Resources
You can use library databases, eBooks, streaming video, and other online resources from off campus by signing in with your CSU credentials.
How remote access works
Most of the library’s online resources are licensed for current CSU students, faculty, and staff. When you are off campus and click a database or eBook link from the library website, you will be prompted to log in.
- Start from the library website, Discovery @ CSU, or the A–Z Databases list.
- When prompted, sign in with your CampusNet username and password.
- After you sign in once, your session usually stays active until you close your browser.
Using the library’s links ensures that your request goes through the CSU proxy server so you are recognized as an authorized user.[web:1087]
Tips for connecting from off campus
If you have trouble connecting to a database or full text from off campus, try the suggestions below.
- Make sure you are using a link from the library website or a Research Guide, not a bookmarked URL.
- Check that your CampusNet account is active and your password is up to date.
- Try a different browser or clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
- If you are connecting from work or a restricted network, try using a personal device or network.
If a specific database link is not working, contact the library so we can check for outages or update the link.

Help when you need it
Your librarians are available to help with remote access problems and research questions, even if you are not on campus.
- Use the chat box on many library pages to get real-time help.
- Call the Research Help Desk at (216) 687-5300 during service hours.
- Ask your personal librarian for one-on-one help by email, chat, or online consultation.[web:1065]
For detailed questions about online teaching, distance courses, or persistent access issues, start with the distance services guide or contact your subject librarian.[web:1087]
If you still can’t connect
If you continue to have trouble accessing library resources from off campus, please contact us with as much detail as possible (which database or link, the exact error message, where you were connecting from, and what browser you were using).
We can often resolve proxy or link problems quickly once we know which resource is affected.
